Protocol Nutrition Coaching combines encouragement, accountability and hard data to help you work toward Wellness and even Fitness. With results from our InBody Scanner we go deeper than just body weight to work toward helping our clients find the right amounts and right types of food to improve how they feel, how they perform and how they look. This is one on one coaching, teaching and accountability.

Hi, my name is Scottie and I am certified in CFL2, USAW L1 and CrossFit Nutrition 1. I am both the Head Coach and an athlete at Crossfit Protocol and have been doing CrossFit since 2012.

I first started to understand the importance of nutrition when I was needing to make weight for competing in the Olympic Weightlifting 96Kg class. The weight limit for this class is 211.6 pounds. I used RP (Renaissance Peridoization) and a macro template to help me cut my weight from 225.5 pounds to 208.1 pounds over 12 weeks. That cut got me ready to compete on a regional level and win. I went on to win gold at the American Open Series, silver at the Pan American Masters Championships and bronze at the Masters World Weightlifting Championships! This was when I realized that training is only a part of the equation and the importance of nutrition.

However, I started to see a pattern in my life. I would continue to work out hard but I would start to eat poorly again which led to adding weight. I would begin to notice more aches and pains due to both increased weight and the inflammation from my bad food choices. Then, when I was so tired of not feeling good, I would do another “cut”.  Through these cycles I began to understand it is not just about calories and macros. I needed a different relationship with food. That is when I started to read more and learn more about nutrition, finally deciding to take the CrossFit Nutrition 1 training course.

The CrossFit Nutrition 1 course was helpful because the material focuses on nutrition information that is geared toward both athletes and those that may not train as hard. But, more importantly, it gave me a framework for helping individuals improve their wellness as a whole through nutrition. Good nutrition is the foundation for our overall wellness pyramid and getting it right can change your life!

In addition to improving overall wellness, my goal with this coaching is to provide you the tools that will help you to reduce the emotional effect of food and to view food for what it really is, which is fuel. That fuel gives us the energy we need to live and to move. The tools that I will give you will help to get your “fuel” right in both the amount an types of food as well as allow you to have the knowledge to make adjustments along the way.
